Recently I was trolling for ideas on smoothies and I thought why not a Banana Bread Smoothy. I have always loved banana fritters and luckily my grandmother was happy to share her recipe with me, which inspired this one. This smoothy fulfills that Jamaican Banana Bread craving, while being G.F. and adds fiber. The key to this recipe is to use extremely ripe bananas as you would for banana bread.
Recipe
2 Overripe Frozen Bananas (Chopped)
1 1/2Cup Vanilla Unsweetened almond milk
1Tbsp Flax seed Meal
1/2 Tbsp Honey
1 Tsp Coconut Oil
1 Tsp Cinnamon
1 Tsp Freshly grated Nutmeg
1 Cup Ice
Directions
1 - This is pretty straight forward add the above ingredients to your blender or nutri-bullet and blend until everything is mixed.
2- Add a do-lip or coconut whipped cream on top for extra decadence and enjoy!
This is great for those hot summer days where you want a cold milky drink. The flax seed meal helps give your diet some fiber and thicken the shake quite nicely, while at the same time adding to your nutrition. Or to make it a Pumpkin Pie shake, use pumpkin spice, and instead of Frozen bananas add 1 tbsp of frozen pumpkin which was either baked or boiled with a bit of honey.
